NAME: Lola
AGE: 17
OCCUPATION: Unknown, more than likely student.
ACTOR: Amy Bissell
CHARACTER TRAITS / PERSONALITY:
Lola is one of the kidnapped teenagers, and the newest addition to the Clarke household, therefore she isn’t fully aware of the "rules". She is very rebellious towards ‘mum’ and ‘dad’. When we first see Lola she is tied to a chair, wearing jeans and a t-shirt with heavy black make-up, which has run down her face due to crying. Lola isn’t afraid to let people know how she feels and tries to do anything to get free. Her boisterous attitude shows that she will do anything once; she also stands up for herself, not fearing the likely consequences. Her desperation leads to outbursts that Ben and Kate are too frightened to commit. Lola unites with the other them to plan an escape, since they have been in the household longer; they have come to know the daily routine of ‘mum’ and ‘dad’. Lola is also mentally strong so she tries to manipulate ‘mum’. She have some power over ‘mum’, as them as her children, and Lola makes some attempts to manipulate 'mum' although Kate does this more convincingly by acting like the ideal child.
FUNCTION:
Lola is rude to ‘mum’ and ‘dad’ leading to her being punished for her actions. She is mentally and physically tough and serves as a catalysis to Ben and Kate, provoking them to plan an escape with her. She continues to rebel against ‘mum’ and ‘dad’ and is the most rebellious teen out of the three hostages. She refuses to allow them to carry on as a ‘happy family’, and selflessly takes all the punishments so Ben and Kate don't have to.
