The text on this title sequence starts of in black ink on what looks like a piece of paper used for typewriters. The font used for the title sequence is book like, very old fashioned like a type writer. The title sequence starts by simply placing the text on the page then removing it by moving the paper to reveal another piece of text. The title of the film appears in red surrounded by numbers and x's. The numbers are used because the film is called 'The Number 23', so the numbers 2 and 3 are surrounding the actual title to show that they are relevant to the film. After about 5 seconds the title of the film starts to get drops of water over the red text which makes it look like the paper is bleeding. This also blur's out the title to change the text on the title sequence. As the title sequence progresses, the text is still visible, however it soon gets covered in drops of blood. The blood soon covers most of the page on the screen making it harder to see the text. The title sequence also consists of music that emphasises the mystery of the film. The music is the kind of music used in films when someone is following you, to let the audience know that someone is following you. This music runs throughout the title sequence, however when the text on the title sequence changes there is an extra noise that sounds like a typewriter changing lines.
How can we use this as inspiration?
From this title sequence we could us the idea that it represents an old fashioned theme. Our character Jane is the stereotypical housewife, so the use of typewriter font will add to the idea of an old fashioned perfect family. The blood stains that appear on the screen will be a good piece to use for ours, since they show that the film isn't just any film but one that is hiding a secret. The blood stains get progressively bigger on the title sequence so we could this also as it shows that as the film progresses the events become more gruesome. We could use this kind of music to show that even though our character believes that what he is doing is right, and he is trying to persuade the audience that his life is normal also. The music will add the sense that the film isn't what it seems.
